High potential and gifted education

At Boggabri Public School, we proudly align our practices with the NSW Department of Education's High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) policy, recognising that high potential and gifted students demonstrate diverse strengths, talents, and learning needs. We are committed to creating an inclusive, supportive, and high challenge learning environment where all students are engaged, motivated, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Our approach reflects whole-child view of high potential, ensuring students are identified early and supported through purposeful, evidence-based teaching and learning practices. By embracing a broad understanding of giftedness, we aim to nurture excellence not only in academic achievement, but also in creativity, physical development, and social-emotional wellbeing. Preparing students to thrive both at school and beyond.

Our approach focuses on four key domains:

Creative Domain
We provide rich opportunities for students to explore creativity and innovation through the arts, problem-solving tasks, and authentic learning experiences that encourage originality, imagination, and risk taking.

Intellectual Domain
Students are challenged through enriched and differentiated learning experiences that promote higher order thinking, deep inquiry, and curriculum extension, supporting strong growth across all learning areas.

Physical Domain
Recognising the importance of physical development and wellbeing, we support students to develop coordination, confidence, and physical competence through targeted programs, sport, and movement based opportunities.

Social-Emotional Domain
We place a strong emphasis on student wellbeing, fostering resilience, self regulation, positve relationships, and a strong sense of belonging so students feel supported to take on challenge and succeed.

At Boggabri Public School, we are committed to implementing the HPGE policy through a comprehansive, student centred approach that identifies, nurtures, and extends the potential of every learner across these four domains.
